Project Nickel Bike

Just a test to see what this page is going to look like………

Nickel plated Commando frame with a trick boxed aluminum swingarm; can’t say I’ve seen another like it.

Of course the frame came from Evil Bay……………………..

    I love it
    Nickle frame is something else.
    Cool tank badges.
    I ride a combat
Guess that kinda makes me a Bad Ass!!!!!

Hey, I like it. My friend once nickle plated his Buell, looked sweet, but a lot of upkeep to keep it looking nice.
Who made the swingarm? Too bad someone wouldn’t make larger fork tubes for these bikes., I think that would really improve the look, and prolly ride, of the front end.
I hope to have a Norton someday (850, Black, gold—please!!), always loved ’em. Recently sold my 79 Triumph Bonneville to it’s original owner. It only had 4K miles on it and is cherry!!!
Ducati’s are my thing now…see my Blogs.
Well, love the bikes and will take a ride to the shop when weather get’s better,
    Ride on,
    Steve

  3. Steve, thanks for the post. The swingarm was a custom unit that came with the frame; made years ago in the UK by a shop long gone from what I can gather. I wish I knew what kind of a back wheel was supposd to go on it. I’ve had a few Ducks myself, my ’98 ST2 has turned out to be the warhorse; I’ll be buried with it. I’d upgrade if I found something that actually worked better. We don’t really have a retail store but you’re welcome to stop by the warehouse for a look; just call first. 339-200-8618.

    • Really nice ST, IMHO a desperately under rated bike that does it all pretty well. I don’t seem to be able to rack up any mileage on mine as I always have to carry piles of crap somewhere or it’s pouring rain or snowing or…..(why DO I live in New England anyway???) What model BMW are you riding? I’ve been having impure thoughts about maybe an F800GS.

I’m riding a 2006 BMW R1200RT because I wanted to do longer rides 2-up. We can carry enough gear for a week trip and it’s wicked comfy. We rode out to Indy last fall for the MotoGp races and did over 850 miles the first day with no problem. It’s got heated grips, cruise, elec. suspension, auto windshield, GPS, MP3, and Sat radio with intercom….all the comforts of home!!! That’s why I don’t ride the ST any longer….but I still hate to get rid of it (my S.O. says to keep it) because I also believe it was the best “do anything bike I’ve owned”. Prolly my favorite bike besides my Ducati Paso. Something about the Paso’s sound and the fact that we put tons of miles on her until she went BANG on the highway….WELL, rambled on enough…gotta get busy prepping the 999R for the track.
BTW–everything I’ve read about the little GS is positive. Would be a great bike, if you only travel solo and don’t mind less HP than the big GS (less storage space also).
    Steve

    • I rode bitch on an 1150RT across Ireland, so comfy I fell asleep, yikes!
Yeah , every time I think about getting rid of the st-2 I stop and think about the fact it owes me nothing and I wouldn’t get any $$ for it if I sold it . I only do maybe 1 or 2 trips over a hundred miles during the season so it really doesn’t make sense to get something newer. Plus, I love the big Italian twin sound.
Track bike eh, I’m looking down the barrel of 60 and never got my act together enough to even do a track day…….always wanted to though.
      Duane

  6. steve says:

Duane, you should try a trackday….you’ll be hooked. Age? Well I’m almost 55 and my buddy who does just as many is over 60…I have another friend in PA who is well over 60…and he’s a F.O.G. (fast old guy)….
you’re welcome to hook up with us anytime, even got leathers you can use!!
    Steve

    • No excuse really, Jerry Wood is an aquaintance I just never really make the time to do it. FYI we sell leathers too, check out texportusa.com for their full line of apparel. Let me know if you need leathers; gloves etc.

    Steve;. All the best!!

    • I’ve been having impure thoughts lately about a KTM Adventure twin. I test drove a 950 at the local Ducati store and it took an hour for the stupid grin to recede. I was going to trade the ST2 but the more I think about it, I may keep the Duck and just make a low ball offer on the Big Orange Bike. Since I bought the ST2 new, I’m a little sentimental about the old bus. But 950cc’s, knobbies and heated grips? YEEEHAW!

  8. steve says:

great bike, if you only ride solo.
