Here’s the latest: I slapped the prototype seat on just to get an idea if I’m going in the right direction here.
I would have to say yes, I like the look, I think it  compliments the tank nicely. Far from done but I think it’s a step in the right direction.
I’ve also started on the wiring which is proving tedious . I’ll be eliminating most of the wiring in the standard harness but routing is the issue. Not much room under the tank on a Commando Roadster, and even less with this tank so it all has to be done carefully.
The other issue is looks, I always hate to see a rats nest of wiring on bikes just because the owner doesn’t think it matters if you can’t see it. OCD? Not me.
I Mounted the coil under the frame tube to get it out of the way and the Boyer box will be nearby which will eliminate miles of wire. OK maybe a few feet but the welcome byproduct is to simplify the amount of wiring and connections. It always seems ridiculous to spend an hour or more to run a few wires just to keep it all neat tidy and  to ease servicing.
But in the end I should be happy with it.    Sort of.
Have a look at the pics, I think it’s looking pretty good.
