Here’s a video hot off the press so to speak of the latest Moto Giro adventure.

We all had a great time and the weather was pretty nearly perfect except for the pea soup fog on Saturday morning. Saw some great scenery in Vermont and New Hampshire and enjoyed some back roads and cowpaths that have never seen motor vehicles or humans. Just kidding……sort of.

Not sure if everyone out there knows that Norton had a certain degree of success producing rotary engined motorcycles in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I don’t pretend to have encyclopedic knowledge of the bikes but there were air cooled and water cooled versions and the main reason they had any popularity was that they were foisted off on police departments. From what I can gather they seem to be good handling but (of course) flawed bikes. The stock brakes were underwhelming and the engines had teething problems; not to mention the inherent thirst of a rotary.

After seeing this video I was impressed with the sound of the motor and the overall quality of these machines,  which were admittedly massaged by loving owners. These were not imported to the US for general consumption but I’m sure there are a few stashed away somewhere. never seen one in the flesh myself. The price put them out of reach for the normal buyer as you could find bikes that performed as well for a lot less money.

The presenter does ramble on but overall it’s worth a look if you’ve got a few minutes to kill.
