We attended the Vintage Festival at Barber’s last weekend and man what a place!!

Sir John Surtees and Dan Gurney were in attendance and it was a weekend of biking heaven to say the least.  Sir John rode his championship winning MV and F1 race car.

Surtees is the only racer to win a World Championship on two and four wheels.

I also spotted Alain de Cadenet who was doing some commentary on the PA.  He’s had great job lately driving and writing about old race cars and bikes. He hosted the video series Victory by Design and others. A Very Nice Chap and he has a wealth of first hand knowledge with the old nails.

The schedule included vintage road racing, motocross, swap meet, auction, and if that wasn’t enough they put on an air show at noon on Saturday and Sunday!

The museum itself is world class and also affords a great view of the track to boot. All the bikes are arranged in logical groups and the lighting is superb. I took over 100 photos but it still doesn’t convey the scale of the collection.

Looking around the whole facility it was difficult to fault anything ! The men’s rooms in the pits were cleaner than my house for crying out loud…..

Our racemonkey Ryan Ambrose won his BEARS race on a vintage Triumph. Congratulations to him, Big D Cycles out of Dallas Texas and Fulmer Helmets. This kid is an up and comer; he’s fast on any bike he rides and will be making a Bonneville assault soon. Watch this space!!!

I’ve included a link to our Google web album, the pics are unedited and some could use some work but you’ll get the idea; enjoy.
